Municipal Election 2024 Notice

The 2024 General Municipal Election for Yukon will be conducted as per the legislated timeline outlined below. This notice provides key dates and references to the Municipal Act to ensure transparency and proper administration of the election process.

Key Election Dates:

• September 5, 2024:
  Election Bylaw passed to appoint Returning Officer and establish other election arrangements. (Municipal Act, s.53-56)

• September 15, 2024:
  Notice of Hearing for the Board of Revision, posted and advertised. (Municipal Act, s.65)

• September 19, 2024:

  • Notice of Nomination Day, posted and advertised. (Municipal Act, s.74)
  • Deadline for written applications requesting revisions must be submitted to the Board of Revision. (Municipal Act, s.68(1))

• September 23, 2024:
  Designated municipal officer must provide a preliminary list of electors to the Board of Revision. (Municipal Act, s.66)

• September 25, 2024:
  The Board of Revision sits to review and revise the electors list. (Municipal Act, s.64(4))

• September 26, 2024:
  Nomination Day: Deadline for the submission of nominations by noon. (Municipal Act, s.75)

• October 3, 2024:

  • Revised list of electors is sent to the designated municipal officer, with public notice issued confirming receipt of the list. (Municipal Act, s.71)
  • Notice of Advance Poll posted and advertised. (Municipal Act, s.85(2))

• October 10, 2024:

  • Notice of Poll posted and advertised. (Municipal Act, s.84(2))
  • Advance Poll will be held. (Municipal Act, s.87)

• October 17, 2024:
