PUBLIC NOTICE Adoption of Property Tax Bylaw No. 324-26 (2026)

The Village of Carmacks Council hereby gives notice that Property Tax Bylaw No. 324-26 has been adopted.

During Council deliberations, members reviewed the proposed increases to minimum tax amounts, particularly for commercial and vacant properties. Concerns were raised regarding the size and timing of these increases. Following discussion, Council adopted a revised, balanced approach with adjusted minimum tax amounts.

Please note:
The tax rates themselves remain unchanged. Only the minimum tax amounts have been updated.

The approved minimum property tax amounts for 2026 are as follows:

• $400 – Taxable residential properties

• $600 – Taxable non-residential, commercial, government, and industrial properties

• $800 – Unimproved, speculative, and vacant properties

Council also directed Administration to correct minor typographical and section reference errors prior to final publication of the bylaw.

Administration is currently completing final formatting and processing. A complete copy of the adopted bylaw will be made available to the public as soon as this work is finalized.
