The Village of Carmacks is committed to maintaining and enhancing its municipal infrastructure through effective asset management practices. Asset management is a strategic approach that enables the Village to manage its infrastructure assets systematically and sustainably, ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of these assets for the benefit of the community.
Key Components of Asset Management

Asset Management Plan (AMP):
- The AMP is a comprehensive document that outlines the activities, resources, and timelines required for the Village’s infrastructure assets. It includes information on current service levels, asset conditions, and lifecycle activities necessary to maintain these assets .

Strategic Asset Management Policy:
- This policy provides leadership and commitment to the development and implementation of the Village’s asset management program. It ensures that all municipal infrastructure assets are managed effectively, promoting lifecycle and risk management to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership while meeting desired service levels .
Asset Inventory and Condition
The Village of Carmacks owns approximately $36.8 million worth of built assets, which include roads, water and sewer systems, buildings, recreational facilities, and various equipment. These assets are critical to delivering essential services to the community .
- Asset Health: The overall condition of the Village's assets is regularly assessed to identify necessary maintenance and renewal activities. Approximately 10% of the assets are currently in poor to very poor condition, highlighting the need for ongoing monitoring and timely interventions .
