Position Objectives:

The Summer Student Pool Attendant supports the daily operations of the community pool by assisting patrons, maintaining facility cleanliness, supporting recreation programming, and helping create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for residents and visitors throughout the summer season.

This position is funded through the Government of Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist pool visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide information regarding pool schedules, programs, admissions, and facility rules.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pool deck, change rooms, lobby, and surrounding areas.
  • Assist recreation staff with swimming lessons, recreational programming, and special events.
  • Support setup and cleanup of recreational activities and community events.
  • Handle admissions, attendance tracking, and basic cash transactions when required.
  • Monitor supplies and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties of the facility.
  • Promote a respectful and welcoming environment for all patrons.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous in a public setting.
  • Reliable, responsible, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks independently.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.

Desirable Training and Experience:

  • No prior experience required.
  • Previous customer service, recreation, or community program experience is considered an asset.
  • Interest in recreation, community engagement, and public service preferred.
