Position Objectives:
The Summer Student Pool Attendant supports the daily operations of the community pool by assisting patrons, maintaining facility cleanliness, supporting recreation programming, and helping create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for residents and visitors throughout the summer season.
This position is funded through the Government of Canada Summer Jobs Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist pool visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide information regarding pool schedules, programs, admissions, and facility rules.
- Maintain cleanliness of pool deck, change rooms, lobby, and surrounding areas.
- Assist recreation staff with swimming lessons, recreational programming, and special events.
- Support setup and cleanup of recreational activities and community events.
- Handle admissions, attendance tracking, and basic cash transactions when required.
- Monitor supplies and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with opening and closing duties of the facility.
- Promote a respectful and welcoming environment for all patrons.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain professional and courteous in a public setting.
- Reliable, responsible, and willing to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks independently.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.
Desirable Training and Experience:
- No prior experience required.
- Previous customer service, recreation, or community program experience is considered an asset.
- Interest in recreation, community engagement, and public service preferred.
