Position Objectives:

Seasonal full-time position responsible for coordinating visitor and tourism services, overseeing communication notices, supporting municipal service functions, and supervising Visitor Information Center operations from June 1 to September 10, 2026.

The Visitor Information Center Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Visitor Information Center, supporting tourism initiatives, coordinating visitor services, supervising seasonal staff, and assisting with municipal administrative functions while promoting the Village of Carmacks in a professional and welcoming manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise seasonal Visitor Information Center staff.
  • Coordinate daily visitor and tourism services.
  • Respond professionally to public inquiries in person, by phone, and by email.
  • Maintain tourism literature inventory and request replenishments.
  • Assist with communication notices and municipal information distribution.
  • Provide administrative support to the CAO and Municipal Clerk as required.
  • Prepare reports and assist with Council meeting materials when requested.
  • Coordinate activities with other community and Territorial Visitor Information Centers.
  • Maintain visitor statistics and operational records.
  • Report public concerns and operational issues to the CAO.
  • Support tourism events and community engagement activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and support staff effectively.
  • Competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of tourism services and public engagement considered an asset.

Desirable Training and Experience:

  • Grade 12 graduation preferred.
  • Tourism, hospitality, administration, or municipal experience considered an asset.
  • Equivalent training or experience may be considered.
