Position Objectives:

Are you energetic, enthusiastic, and responsible? If so, we are looking for you! If you think you have what it takes to help implement fun programming that requires leadership and organization, please send in your resume. The Student Recreation Attendant(s) will be supervised by the Recreation Director and Recreation Assistants. This position may require work on evenings and weekends. This position will average approximately 40 hours per week throughout the summer months. Terms of employment are from Late May to Mid-August.

Minimum Requirements:

  •         Plan and lead programs as assigned

For example:

-       Day camps, special events, community events

-       Ensure facilities and activities are safe and safety is a priority

-       Develop rules for each activity and sample crafts as needed

-       Ensure supplies, first aid, equipment and materials are prepared prior to program and returned after each program

-       Lead programming as planned but with flexibility to meet participant needs and consider other variables including weather

  •         Program administration

For example:

-       Complete all check lists, report forms, and evaluations for each program daily

-       Participate in all staff meetings and training sessions

  •         Ensure all COVID-19 safety procedures are followed

Desirable Training and Experience:

  •         Ability to interact positively with the public, participants, and recreation facility users
  •         Cross-cultural awareness
  •         Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  •         Experience working with children and adults in a recreation setting an asset
  •         Enrolled as a current high school or post-secondary student
  •         Standard First Aid (or ability to obtain)
  •         WHMIS (or ability to obtain)
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check or the ability to get one
